Vertical cavity surface emitting laser is a new generation of semiconductor laser that has been developing rapidly in recent years. The so-called "vertical cavity surface emission" means that the laser emission direction is perpendicular to the cleavage plane or substrate surface. Another emission method corresponding to it is called "edge emission".
